In 2023, after 6 years of camping, we were debating whether to buy a campervan and shift our family adventures to campervanning. We really enjoy camping and have had some amazing times. However, the ease of jumping into a campervan and heading out for a fun day-trip or a week away, whenever and wherever we fancied, was something we really wanted.
After looking at various options, we found a VW T5.1 with our name on it. It's kitted out lovely and makes a great addition to the family! We've called her Falcon, you can find out why on her page. Vanagon came about when looking at the VW campervan history. In short. In the U.S. and South America the VW T3 was sold as a Vanagon, which is a blended word of van and station wagon. The name Vanagon was coined by Volkswagen to highlight their claim that the T3 had the room of a van, but drove like a station wagon. Vanagons were produced from 1980 to 1991. We love the name and so thought we would bring it back!
After an amazing first year, we decided to buy a VW T2 Camper - something we've also wanted. We found Bertie Blue with as lovely couple who just didn't have the time for him anymore. He is a 1974 late bay and is kitted out lovely. He has been very well looked after with a recent restoration carried out! We will continue to look after him, whilst getting him out onto the open roads. Bertie will take you back to the old ways of driving and you are guaranteed to smile every time you drive him!
